Rocky the writer???

Image
An authorpreneur is one who believes in the power of books. He/she believes that the books he/she read have the power to transform his/her life like nothing else can. He/she also believes that his/her writings can create an enormous impact on people's lives. And the first person their writings (whether published or unpublished) touch is themselves. Sylvester Stallone is one such person whose life had been changed forever by two book-related events. One, when he read a book of poems written by Edgar Allan Poe which prompted him to make the decision to be a writer. Two, when he wrote the Rocky story (over three days in one sitting) after he watched how a nobody-journey-man boxer knocked down Muhammad Ali unexpectedly. Although he did not win the match, the fact that he knocked down Muhammad Ali (even if it was only once) had ignited the fire in Stallone to write that script. That was the author part of the Stallone's authorpreneurial journey. The entrepreneur part

One breathe at a time...

The one-breath-at-a-time approach to overcoming obstacles can be very effective if you think about it deeply enough. I put myself before the task I need to acc omplish. And let my breathing take me from the start till the end of it all. Unless that task kills me, it is 100% certain that I will breathe in and out through the entire task. So the question is no longer whether I can accomplish my task but rather, will I put myself before the task to be accomplished. Because if I do, I will breathe myself into it, through it and finish it. Unless of course the task finishes me off. But the breathing approach still holds because as long as I continue to breath I will continue to accomplish.

Write for others too...

When you write, you write not just for yourself, you write to help your readers. No matter how unworthy you think you are, you never know how others might still benefit from your help. So, stop beating yourself down and start writing that book.

My encounter with the Transformer company (Hasbro)

Bought a toy for my son. A transformer robot... He played with it for a few days and then went back to the packaging, pointed at the instructions and told me to follow the three steps printed there. I asked him how was he able to understand the instructions. He said he knew it before I bought him the toys. Saw the ad on iPad and hence he asked specifically for that toy to be bought for him. Step one, download the app. Two, scan the logo on his physical toy. Three, start playi ng or something, can't remember. I went there for the first time, downloaded it. And wondered if it was free. Apparently, it was. Later, I found out that there are in-app purchases that will costs money. You play the game and if you want extra power or weapons, you need to purchase them in the app. I read somewhere for the first time, the number of gamers are now more than the number of people playing physical sports and games in the world! You see, I bought him this toy because it is off the screen.

No worries, just write...

If you want to write a book, just go ahead and do it. you might doubt if any publisher would want to publish it at all. You might worry if people would want to read it or not. And if they do, would they like it or even finish it at all. So, you ended up not writing it, procrastinating until dunno when. Maybe you should not think too much of yourself. What if your book could actually give hope to someone out there? What if someone's life would change forever after reading your  book. Even if that person is the only reader, as long as you don't write it. He will never get to read it. Sometimes, we all think too much about the things we should not worry about. Let the publisher decide. Let the readers read and find out if your book helps them or not. We just do what we can do now. What we can do now is not judge but write the damn book. That's it. Sometimes we just think too highly of ourselves so much so that nothing actually gets done at all! What a pity what a s

What are the chances?

A person given a company (complete with customer base, ongoing business, goodwill, equipment, staff, building, stock, lock and barrel) to run, with 5 million dollars cash in the company's bank account. Will he 100% succeed? Hard to tell. It all depends on how he manage (his company and his 24 hours every day), right? Likewise, as long as we are alive and healthy, we have everything we need to succeed in the things we commit to. But that doesn't mean we will succeed. We have w hat it takes to succeed. But if we don't deploy what we have in the right way, the right results will not happen. Too often we choose to focus on complaining what we don't have and ended up overlooking at what we already have and then deploy them wisely to achieve whatever outcome we desire. It's a shame really. We fail not because we don't have the qualities inside us but because we choose not to use them.

About this blog, about this group: Our Mission

A QUICK Introduction: Created to hold members accountable for the goals they have set for themselves, this group also serves as a source of inspiration, ideas, skills and knowledge for everyone. If you want to go fast, you can do it alone. But if you want to go far, let’s do it together. A SLOW introduction: Whether you are aspiring to be (or already) a published (or self-published) author or an entrepreneur, you are technically an authorpreneur. Authorpreneurs are people who understand how their writings can help promote themselves and their businesses. But they also know that in order for that to happen, they must acquire the skills to market their own writings in the first place! This is where we come into the picture. We are that picture because it's about how we together as a group can help ourselves. Every one brings to the table every time we meet an idea, a skill or some knowledge that we already possess and goes home with a total sum of all the ideas, skills
